From Maurita André's originally written and composed production, "Drink with Your Eyes".

After an altercation with her strict and conservative father, shy yet determined Orchid Angelique has run away from home with nothing but a small suitcase, a bit of money, and a big dream of becoming a star.  Upon arrival, she finds a waitress job at Café Carib, just across the street from Le Treble, an exclusive members-only jazz club where only the rich, famous, and invited are allowed in.

One night after finishing her work shift, Orchid quietly crept over to Le Treble's dingy backlot to better listen to the big-band grooves she could overhear from a partially opened window.  As she stepped onto a wooden crate to sing and curtsy to an imaginary audience, Orchid had no idea that she was being watched by Le Treble's top New Orlean headliner, the tall and handsome Jazz Crooner, Frank Lamour.

He curiously looked on and realised something was incredibly different about this dame compared to the many broads who relentlessly pursued him, so Frank needed to know more.  He quickly rattled down the ornate fire escape steps with the hope he could speak with her, but Orchid hurried off like a spooked alley cat once she realised someone had seen her.

It had been a long time since Frank pursued a woman, making Orchid even more alluring.  So once he realised she only worked across the street, he began to dine there frequently while he would admiringly stare and attempt to get to know her.

However, Frank's celebrity and heart-breaker reputation quickly followed him, and soon there were gossip whisperers and groupie gigglers everywhere!  Even Café Carib's most colourful customers, Madame Higglesworth and her precious Teacup Terrier Lord Finnegan, have begun to act like two mad detectives.  After all, they believed that Frank was still nothing more than a wild, philandering scoundrel.

Yet to the surprise of all, Frank appears to have turned over a new leaf and is doing everything to win Orchid Angelique's heart.  But envy lurks about and is on the prowl, seeking to drink and devour what Orchid holds most dear, as she is about to experience the worst betrayal of all.
